Fresh photography, even personal shots are important for anyone who wants to see what sort of photography you do. The more specialized you are the better which means you create a perception of an ‘expert’ in the field. In fact, if you do focus on one thing, for example business photography you will with time become an expert just because 100% of your efforts and work will be focused on business photography. Personally, my top tips on business photography are: you need to be/become a business person yourself then be able to understand and communicate your event photography to a corporate event manager. Being ‘arty’ is not going to work, 2 worlds collide and make it extra difficult.
Even black & white conference photography is cool. Personally, it it cooler than any other as it is different. After all you need a point of difference when it comes to any business you run/own. Not different to business photography.
